The Freedom Centre

Freedom Centre is run by young people for young people using a peer support model. Peer support is where people get support from other people who share similar experiences.

At Freedom Centre, this means that our volunteers and staff are people who are also young and same sex attracted, sex and/or gender diverse (DSG) and are trained to be able to give support and information to their peers.

Gay and Lesbian Equality (WA)

Gay and Lesbian Equality (WA) is Western Australia’s peak lobby group for issues of diverse sexuality and gender. While GALE(WA) does not claim to represent trans* or intersex members of the community, GALE(WA) advocates for their rights, alongside those of gay, lesbian, bisexual and other sexually diverse members of our community.

G&L= is an ideal place for activists to continue their campaigns after graduating University.

The WA Gender Project

WA Gender Project is a lobby, education and advocacy group and works to advance the human rights of TTI people and their significant others.
We work with government, service providers and the wider community to increase and improve access to services for TTI people.
WA Gender Project is not a support group. However, we maintain links to other organisations who can provide assistance and support. If you are seeking support, please see the links section of our website for further information.

Gay and Lesbian Community Services

GLCS has been providing support, information and resources to the West Australian gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender community for almost 35 years. In fact, we are the longest running organisation of our kind in the Southern Hemisphere.

As WA’s main community based GLBT service provider our main focus is on providing essential services to the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender communities, including our peer counselling phone line and social support groups. We also offer a number of training options for the general community, ranging from one-hour personal perspectives talks to half- and full-day workplace training in diverse sexuality and gender. We also have a successful history of running funded projects, often in partnership with other community groups.

Pride WA

Pride WA Inc. is WA’s premiere GLBT community group. Our mission is to encourage the cultural expression and celebrate, champion and support the rights and freedoms of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, queer and other same sex attracted people living in Western Australia.

Pride is the organisation in charge of organising the parade and Fair Day during the Pride Festival previously held in October.

The WA AIDS Council
The WA AIDS council, established in 1985, leads the Western Australian community in the provision of a wide range of services in the prevention of HIV, and the treatment and care of people living with HIV/AIDS. 2010 marks the 25th anniversary of the Western Australian AIDS Council and this year will see the continuing dedication to our vision and mission.

Equal Love
Equal Love is a nationwide campaign for same-sex marriage in Australia. We aim to put pressure on the government to legislate for equal marriage rights. It has been six years since the Australian government amended the Marriage Act to ban same sex marriage. Six years of state-sanctioned homophobia is too many!
